We have just returned from a wonderful week staying at Chalet Ski-Massif. We were a family of four staying with friends making a total of 20! The chalet is lovely and cosy with an open fire. It has plenty of space outside for the children (and adults) to do some sledging and make snowmen! The views are gorgeous as well! Matt, Sally, Cassie and Minty were lovely hosts. Matt providing guidance to the slopes and always willing to provide lifts when required, and even serving drinks to the hot tub!!! The food was delicious - afternoon tea, canapés, 3 course evening meal they were all wonderful and never disappointed! We just wanted to say a huge thank you for helping us make some wonderful memories!! Nikki, Jay, Amelia and Finley xx
Sally and Matt are fantastic hosts and the chalet is very well equipped with everything that we have needed for the week. Food has been fabulous and everyone has had a wonderful holiday. Thank you very much.
We had a great stay at Chalet ski Massif, the food was plentiful, delicious and beautifully presented. Short mini bus trip up to 1600 to ski where the conditions were great, convenient door to slope service. The chalet is set in beautiful surrounds, private outdoor space and the hot tub has a great view of the mountains ( enhanced by a G&T in the hot tub). Our rooms were spacious and warm, plus the living area had a very welcoming fire! Thanks Sally and Matt.
Had a great week here with Sally and Matt. Lovely food and wine, beautiful, clean chalet with amazing beds and a large ski area with great variety - lots of intermediate and challenging pistes as well as off piste through the trees! Very traditional quaint valleys which can be reached within a run or two including Flaine. Chalet is super child friendly with a play area, toys, cot and early dinner. Sally and Matt definitely go the extra mile. We'll be back.
A beautiful traditional mountain chalet at 1400m just a short drive from Samoëns 1600, owned & run by Sally & Matt. Delicious food, wine, aperitifs, afternoon tea & cakes; games room; hot tub & sauna; honesty bar & they even leave you to the slopes & pick you up whenever you're ready to come back. A wonderful week spent with them & their lovely family. I hope to come back.
Just ending a lovely half term week with Matt, Sally and family. The most comfortable, homely and spacious chalet we've ever stayed in - a real home from home experience. Food was totally delicious. Matt and Sally gave us lifts to the piste every morning and picked us up in the afternoon. Can't fault this lovely family run chalet. Don't hesitate to give it a try.
Superb food, drink, company, skiing, accommodation and time had by all! Love to Matt, Sally and all x.
Just got back from a fab week here. Sally and Matt and their great team looked after us so well, despite being a large (and noisy!) group of 11. The food is really very good - an entire week of delicious canapés, starters, mains and puds and Cassie makes a mean g&t! Apéritifs served in the hot tub if you want, either before or after a cheeky little toboggan run. Bedroom we had was lovely, as is whole chalet. Chalet is situated about a 10 min drive from Samoëns 1600 so v isolated but not a problem as there’s transport provided to and from lifts and GME down into village. Lots of walks/snowshoeing/things to do for non-skiers too.
Excellent ski chalet An excellent find, out of the main town area but with the free taxi service to the lifts in the morning and pick up in the afternoon, it’s a perfect location for a chilled holiday.Stayed here as a group of 15, plenty of room around the chalet without tripping over each other. The facilities in the chalet are great, the food is excellent and the choice of drinks is a real winner. The ski back to the chalet is an experience not to forget!
What an amazing place We have had at least five catered chalet holidays over the past years with a large family group ranging from four years old to eighty and Chalet Ski Massif has been the best chalet we've ever been in. The rooms are gorgeous with plenty of flexibility for families. Food was perfect and Sally and Matt were wonderful hosts. We hope to visit again very soon.
Fantastic find in a great area Where to start? Nothing is too much trouble for the owners/hosts Sally and Matt. Food at every meal was of excellent quality and the wine options at dinner added a lovely extra element to an already very well put together menu. The Chalet itself is warm and more than comfortable with a fantastic open area for groups of all sizes or even just hunkering down by the fire with a book if you wanted too. My double room on the same floor as the living area was immaculate and I was never disturbed by any morning preparations for breakfast etc. The boot/drying room is ample with more than enough room to dry out boots and clothes at the end of a full day on the mountain..... And what a mountain! I loved the area! I did have possibly one of the best weeks weather wise with sunshine and powder days but I can tell there's quite an investment in the area just now with more lifts and runs been added over the past couple of seasons, and more to come. Samoen itself is a lovely 'proper' town and just 15 mins or so away, there are bars, restaurants and plenty of shops to peruse on a day off or if the mountain is closed. Chalet location - I loved it. The chalet itself is about 2/3 up the hill towards Samoen 1600, sitting pretty much by itself in a woodland on the mountainside. This little bit of isolation may be a negative to some but, honestly, with Chalet Ski-Massif you have very little reason to want to go anywhere! Also if, like me, you like to be up and on the hill early Matt will take you up to the lift areas at Samoen 1600 where you can beat the crowds coming up from town and get a great head start on fresh pistes for most the morning - trust me its worth it! I'd absolutely recommend booking a trip here, and even though a solo traveller on this occasion I'm already strong arming my usual group to commit to coming back next year I enjoyed it so much. Thanks again.
Lovely stay in Ski Massif Recently returned from a great week in this cosy chalet, run by British couple Sally and Matt. Just over an hour from Geneva airport, Samoens is a traditional village linked to the large and varied Grand Massif area. Chalet Ski Massif is unique in its location just below the main ski hub at Samoens 1600, meaning that guests do not need to take the gondola up from the village, but can start skiing as soon as they are dropped at the edge of the piste in the morning by Matt. The warm and friendly hospitality we were offered during our stay by both Sally and Matt was really appreciated- nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to ensure guests had everything they needed. The food was delicious throughout the week, from the cooked breakfast options to the varied and well presented 3 course dinners, not forgetting the pre dinner canapés and aperitifs, and of course those wonderful freshly baked cakes awaiting our return from the slopes. We were offered a great selection of good quality wine every evening, with new bottles generously opened as soon as we emptied one! Another highlight was the hot tub which we enjoyed most evenings, surrounded by wonderful mountain vistas. The chalet has a really warm boot room, a games room and a snug with a large selection of DVDs and games for guests. In summary, if you are looking for high end luxury, this chalet would probably not be for you (bedrooms and bathrooms are on the small side, and soundproofing could be improved). If, however, like us, you prefer warm and cosy comfort in a relaxed atmosphere with good food and excellent hospitality, you will not be disappointed with Chalet Ski Massif. We loved it and will be back!
A wonderful week in a gem of a chalet Having spent the last 5 skiing holidays in the same chalet in Morzine, we decided it was time for change and do not regret our choice. We had a superb time, Matt and Sally were fantastic hosts from the minute we arrived serving us evening aperitifs in the hot tub to our sad goodbyes at 7.30 am when Matt got up especially early to brew our fresh coffee and bake our croissants. Nothing was too much trouble. Their hospitality and friendliness was exceptional. We are a group of 6 middle aged foodies who also love skiing and both were superb; hot breakfasts, wonderful cakes to come home to, home made canapés with aperitifs and a delicious dinner with excellent wines. We were a little concerned about the chalet being so isolated but it's only a 7 minute drive to Samoens 1600 and Matt took us to and from the slopes every day which worked well. The chalet has wonderful views and is warm and cosy - we'll definitely be back. Halina
A fantastic week We're home less than a week and our time in Chalet Ski Massif seems like a dream!! Sally and Matt have done an excellent job looking after us and their property is nothing short of superb. The bedrooms are well laid out for families or couples, warm, comfortable with plenty of towels and storage space. The food was better than any other chalet we've been to (we've been in many others) served with beautiful aperitif to start and well chosen wine. An early dinner for the children followed by the hot tub or a game in the games room or a movie in the separate sitting area ensured they were all happy while we relaxed every evening. The 3 minute minibus trip to the slopes was much easier than a 5 minute walk with children with skis, gloves, helmets, sticks, goggles etc etc etc!! Matt and Sally were on call to pick us up when we were ready each evening and were happy to pick up anyone early who'd had enough! I'd recommend this Chalet highly, keep up the good work Guys!!
Fantastic holiday Sally & Matt were the hosts with the most for our week in the snow. Superb breakfasts, tasty cakes and excellent evening cuisine kept our weight & spirits up. The bedrooms & bathrooms were excellent and dressing gowns, hot tub, games room and roaring fire kept us cosy, relaxed and entertained. The ride up to the lift was quick & convenient & Matt would often join us for the last bit of skiing and pick up. We also skied back on one day, which was quite the adventure. Their ski hire place was super convenient & spoke great English. Equipment was very good and they were super helpful when we wanted to change boots. There were just 2 of us but the other chalet guests were very friendly & we had a lot of fun. All in all a great week and we are hoping to get back this season if they can fit us in.
A great chalet in a super location Back from a great week at Chalet Ski Massif, it's a beautiful comfortable, spacious chalet, great family rooms with lovely space under the eves for kids beds. Sally and Matt are the lovely new owners in this existing business, they made us very welcome, we enjoyed delicious, original meals and great wine. There was the odd teething problem as can be expected in a new venture - Items missing at the breakfast table, realising we're not at the correct meeting point for our ski lessons but all resolved without incident. Samoëns 1600 is a great ski resort even though there was only just enough snow at Christmas. Good beginners area with stunning views from all pistes, great access to a huge ski area when all the pistes and lifts are open. We'll definitely return and explore further. We fancy the 14k route across the mountains to Flaine. ....
